This organisation, also called "Freifunk" is a community movement that sees free, equally usable network access as the cornerstone of society. We do not pursue any commercial interest and support the network on a voluntary basis. Freifunk's vision is the dissemination of free networks, the democratisation of communication media and the promotion of local social structures. Freifunk finances itself exclusively through donations and lives from the participation of committed people.

AFNIC (Association Francaise pour le Nommage Internet en Cooperation)

Created in 1997, Afnic is the French acronym for "Association Française pour le Nommage Internet en Coopération" (the French Network Information Centre). As the incumbent manager of the .fr TLD with more than 3 million .fr domain names, it is also positioned as a provider of technical solutions and registry services: it currently manages 17 projects for new gTLDs, including .paris and .bzh. A non-profit association governed by the provisions of the Law of 1 July 1901, Afnic is located in Saint-Quentin en Yvelines, where its staff of 80 work for the common good of the French Internet.
